On the road, Day 1

Here we are, travelin' About 100 miles out of Oaklahoma city. We got off at about 8 am this morning. Will be in Salina KS tonight to visit with Joes long lost cousin, James Holder. The last time they saw each other Joe was about a year old :-)

 Doing well. Joe had a very hard night last night. He is really tired today. Had more chest pain this morning and his blood sugar is still running high. He just did too much these past few days. Keep a praying

Countdown

Here we are on the edge of leaving for our loop around half of the US. What a crazy time, getting ready for deputation. We couldn't have done it without the help of our friends. What an original line, huh?! but true.

A week and a half ago we thought we were not going to leave until mid August or later. Suddenly God said, "Hows about now?!" And we took off. It has been amazing the things that God has brought together to make this happen. here are just a few of them.
-We received a large gift from a supporter a few days before we found out we were going to leave. With that we were able to do the almost 1000 worth of work to our car that it needed and get a laptop which we desperately needed.
-The second opinion from Oncology was virtually the same as the first so we knew that Joe would not be undergoing Chemo.
-Joes appointments rearranged themselves at the VA allowing us to leave right away.
-All of our medical appointments for all three of us happened in the past week allowing us to get all of our meds together before leaving the state for a month.
-A dear friend Elizabeth volunteered to house sit the whole time we are gone and keep the kitty company
-We were able to set up over 20 visits with different people in a very short time.
-We were scheduled to do chapel at work this last day at work so we were able to practice our presentation in front of our fellow workers and get feedback from them. This was scheduled over a month and a half ago.
-Jobs cleared today for Molly so she was able to help Brenna get our brochures cut and folded.(I did all of our literature THIS WEEK
-Brennas therapy which was scheduled to go on for another month. They suddenly said she was ready to graduate this past Thursday.

And it goes on. God is very very good. This is Teri's verse for this week: 2 Cor. 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." I got that Sunday when I was feeling "I CAN NOT DO THIS." God's timing is always perfect.

We had a scare tonight. I came home from work to find Joe very week sitting in the kitchen having bad chest pains. He took two nitro and made it to the bedroom to try and relax it off in his easy chair. Over then next 45 minutes he took 2 more nitro. I was getting ready to call an ambulence when I suddenly thought to check his blood sugar. Yup, it was nearly 300. That would do it. Took some insulin and feels much better. Praise the Lord!!!!!

Deputation

Hey Friends and Family:

So, here we are, with our first blog. I will try and keep this up so you all can keep up with what is going with us easier.

We leave this Friday, the 15th of July for our first deputation. We should be back in Texas by August 9th or 10th.  We will be putting in tons of driving and seeing as many of you as we can along the way. If we don't have you on our calander yet please let us know your contact info and preference for us getting together ASAP.

We are going first to Salina KS to see some of Joe's long lost relatives and then up to SD to see Teri's baby brother Jim. Then to Casper WY and into WA, stopping to see Teri's Aunt Julie on the way. This puts us in the Tacoma area on the evening of the 20th of July. We will be in the Tacoma area until July 30th. We plan to be in the Portland/Eugene area Aug 2-4th, then down to California and back home.

For those of you who don't know what deputation is, that is where we make contact with our supporters.  We are faith supported in the work we do. On deputation we visit our supporters and give them an update on what we and the mission that we work for and see if anyone else would like to join us in the work we do. Basically we do technical support for Christian Missions, Churches and Missionaries. We serve hundreds of missions all over the world. It is very exciting work. Teri is a Graphic Designer and Joe is an administrative assistant.

We are SOOOO excited to come home and see all of our freinds and family. It has been a very rouph year so even though this is a "working" vaccation we look forward to it so much.

Please pray for us as we travel.
-Pray for Joe as his health is fragile and this trip is going to be very hard on him.
-Pray for Brenna as leaving Tacoma was very difficult for her and going home and leaving again is going to be hard also
-Pray for Teri and traveling mercies as the bulk of the driving will fall on her.
-Pray that hearts will be open to hear the message that we bring and that we will go in God's strength.
